Paul I. Poirier, 85, a life-long Waukegan resident passed away Oct. 19, 2014 at Lake Forest Hospital. Paul was born in Waukegan and had served as a non-commissioned officer with the US Army in Korea. Following his discharge from the Army, Paul joined the Waukegan Police Dept. where he served for 30 years. Paul is survived by his wife Patricia “Sam” (nee Finley) of 54 years of marriage; his children Paul (Diane), Penny (Mark) and Patrick; 5 grandchildren Mark and Morgan Miller, Elizabeth Bogdala, Paul Jay and Jessica Poirier; and many nieces and nephews. Loving husband, father, grandfather and dedicated policeman. Paul was preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Bogdala; parents Dan and Viola Poirier, brothers Donald (the late Coletta), Daniel (the late Florence), Jim (Rethina), Kenny (the late Maxine) and sister Rita (the late Carl). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am Thursday Oct. 23 at The Church of Saint Patrick, 15000 West Wadsworth Rd, Wadsworth with military honors following. His family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the Mass. If desired, memorial donations made to the Holy Family Soup Kitchen, c/o 101 Park Place, Libertyville, IL 60048 would be greatly appreciated.
